Lorentz Transformations and Statistical Mechanics

چکیده
In [Gottlieb (1998)] and [Gottlieb (2000)] we launched a study of Lorentz transformations. We find that every Lorentz transformation can be expressed as an exponential e where F is a skew symmetric operator with respect to the Minkowski metric 〈 , 〉 of form −+++. We provided F with the notation of electromagnetism. Thus we can describe boosts as pure ~ E fields and rotations as pure ~ B fields. An important class of Lorentz transformations corresponding to radiation made its appearance. We have yet to see a description of these “radiation” transformations in the Physics literature.

Statistical mechanics in the context of special relativity. II.
The special relativity laws emerge as one-parameter (light speed) generalizations of the corresponding laws of classical physics. These generalizations, imposed by the Lorentz transformations, affect both the definition of the various physical observables (e.g., momentum, energy, etc.), as well as the mathematical apparatus of the theory. Here, following the general lines of [Phys. Rev. E 66, 0...

2 to the Lorentz transformations via the law of addition of relativistic velocities. Abstract. In this paper we show how to get the Lorentz transformations from E = mc 2 , the laws of conservation of energy and momentum, and the special relativity principle. To this end we first deduce the law of addition of relativistic velocities. From E = mc 2 to the Lorentz transformations via the law of ad...
متن کاملNonrelativisitic Ideal Gasses and Lorentz Violations
We develop statistical mechanics for a nonrelativisitic ideal gas in the presence of Lorentz violating background fields. The analysis is performed using the Standard-Model Extension (SME). We derive the corresponding laws of thermodynamics and find that, to lowest order in Lorentz violation, the scalar thermodynamic variables are corrected by a rotationally invariant combination of the Lorentz...
متن کاملLorentz - covariant spectrum of single - particle states and their field theory
In order to understand the number of degrees of freedom we need to include in a Lorentz-invariant theory, we need to develop the representation theory of the Poincaré symmetry. The Poincaré symmetry consists of two sets of symmetries of the Minkowski spacetime. Space-time translations generated by the energy-momentum four vector P , and the Lorentz transformations (rotation and boost) generated...
متن کاملDeformed Special Relativity and Twisted Symmetries in a Canonical Framework
In this paper we have studied the nature of kinematical and dynamical laws in κ-Minkowski spacetime from a new perspective: the canonical phase space approach. We have introduced a new form of κ-Minkowski phase space algebra from which we recover the κ-extended finite Lorentz transformations derived in [13]. This is a particular form of a Deformed Special Relativity model that admits a modified...
